Byron Journal (The)
The Diary of Elizabeth Lee: Growing up on Merseyside in the Late Nineteenth Century spacer

Synopsis

The Byron Journal is an international publication published twice annually by Liverpool University Press for The Byron Society. The journal publishes scholarly articles and notes on all aspects of Byron's writings and life, and on related topics. Since its inception in 1973, the journal has become widely read in many different countries. Apart from providing a forum for leading authorities on Byron and news of significant events and conferences in the Byron year, the journal also reviews all major works on the poet and prides itself on the speed with which new books are reviewed. Contributions for all parts of the journal and suggestions for review are always welcome.

Contributions should be original and should not have been previously published in any form, including all forms of electronic publication. Contributors are required to assign copyright to Liverpool University Press, and not to publish accepted articles or book reviews on web pages before they appear in The Byron Journal.

For information on submitting manuscripts please click here Guidelines for Contributors

The Byron Journal is hosted online by Metapress and is accessible at http://liverpool.metapress.com/content/121624/. Online access is free to existing subscribers.

Editorial Correspondence

Articles submitted for publication in the journal should not have been published already. Copyright remains with the journal and any subsequent reprinting elsewhere requires the express permission of the editors. Articles may cover any aspect of Byron Studies – literary, biographical, or historical. Brief notes are especially welcome. Articles on related Romantic or other topics will also be considered. Preference will be given to those which contain new material or offer new insights, and to those which are less than 6,000 words. Contributors are requested to provide abstracts of their article, the length of which should not exceed 150 words. Every effort will be made to check the accuracy of information but responsibility for this and for views expressed lies with the contributors.

Main articles should be addressed to the Editor:
Dr Alan Rawes,
Lecturer in Romanticism,
School of Arts, Histories and Cultures,
Lime Grove Building,
Oxford Road,
Manchester M13 9PL
Tel. 44 (0)161 306 1240
email Alan.Rawes@manchester.ac.uk.

Each article should be sent with a second copy and should follow the format of the journal exactly.

Articles should have endnotes rather than footnotes but, where possible, information should be presented as part of the main text. Articles finally accepted for publication should also be presented on disk or as a Word attachment via email. It is the responsibility of the contributor to produce copy in the journal’s format. Where permission is needed to reproduce material (e.g. pictures), contributors should ascertain the sources of such permission and whether costs are involved. These costs will have to be met by the contributor. Each article will normally be referred to outside advisors.

Books for review should be sent to the Reviews Editor, Dr Philip Shaw, Department of English, University of Leicester, LEI 7RH, who also welcomes other review suggestions.

The Editors may suggest changes, invite redrafting, modify, or prune material sent. Final decision on publication and its form will be for the editorial board on the Editors' advice.

Advertisements should be sent to Jenny Howard, Liverpool University Press, 4 Cambridge Street, Liverpool, L69 7ZU. Telephone 0151 794 2234.
